This gorgeous waterfront home had beautiful finishes to begin with. As part of the remodel, we were asked to rework the color scheme and refinish the already beautiful kitchen cabinetry, giving it an antiqued look using bold gold and black colors with a top coat of dragged umber glazing.
Upon commencement of the scope of work changed dramatically from repainting all of the ceilings, walls, millwork and doors to stripping the existing stain finish off all of the interior doors in preparation for a darker stain. The stripping and sanding of the doors alone took approximately 120 man hours. Our total hours on the job were just over 1,200 making this one of the longer and larger projects we have performed.
The remodel company and homeowner decided to replace all of the windows and exterior doors, which would also be given a darker stain instead of white paint to match the trim. In the downstairs addition of the wine cellar and tasting room, we applied 4 coats of teak oil to the new wine room racks and cabinetry giving it a rich natural look. Due to the new exterior windows and doors we also repainted about 75% of the exterior stucco on the home including repainting the front entry doors. We were also asked by the homeowner to take apart the intricate screen doors and paint the frames and mechanisms to match the new clad finish of the windows and doors.
The impressive 2 story entry with cat walk, large columns and beams, and three story wrap around staircase required a great deal of large flat surface millwork to paint. The end result is an impressive combination of dark stain finishes, white millwork finishes and warm toned ceilings and walls throughout the home. The kitchen color scheme goes superbly with the new backsplash and countertops, and the new hardwoods give the home a more rustic look in correlation with the dark stain finish windows and doors that we produced.
